De antemão, agradeço pela cordialidade em atender e... vamos ao que interessa, mas prmieiramente, que tal um pouco de som para limpar os ouvidos e preparar vocês?

ARTISTIC BUTCHERY - DAMNED FOR ETERNITY

Agora sim, um pouco do histórico da banda e EDDIE BLAZE mostrando a entrevista com os caras.

A HISTÓRIA DA BANDA:

Artistic Butchery iniciou suas atividades em outubro de 2022, em meio à pandemia, na cidade de Belo Horizonte/MG, com os membros: Daniel Rezende (vocal), Anderson Akira (guitar), Romero Silva (guitar), Júlio Jr. (bass) e Vinícius Soares (drums). Inicialmente a banda começou sem grandes ambições, com o intuito de tocar somente covers de bandas consagradas do estilo Death Metal, como: Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Suffocation, Malevolent Creation, Pestilence, etc... Porém após o primeiro show em março de 2023, vieram as primeiras músicas autorais e a partir daí a banda migrou de banda cover para banda autoral.

No mesmo ano o baixista Júlio deixou a banda, dois dias depois a Artistic Butchery entrava em estúdio para gravar um "live in studio", o que gerou uma demo com 3 músicas chamada "Live at Casa Radar Rock", lançada nas plataformas de streaming da banda e também vídeos dessas gravações lançados no canal oficial do YouTube da banda e do estúdio Casa Radar Rock.

No início de 2024 a banda oficializou a entrada do baixista Willye Rodrigues (vocal/guita da Inventtor, banda de Doom Death Metal de BH). Com essa formação consolidada fizeram alguns shows e gravaram seu primeiro single "From The Outside In", gravado no studio Attack em BH, do Cristiano Fucker, vocal e guitarrista da lendária banda de brutal Death Metal, a Sanatório. O single foi lançado no dia 21/09/24, após o lançamento do single, Willye deixa a banda e Júlio Jr. retornou para ocupar o posto do baixo, o baterista Vinícius Soares também deixou a banda e quem ocupou o posto foi o baterista Alfredo Malagoli (ex-Witch Hammer). A banda se prepara para gravar seu segundo single ainda este ano, no dia 30/11, no estúdio do Alexandre Resende (baixista da The Host, Blackened Death Metal de Lafaiete/MG) e tem planos de lançar um EP para 2025.

METAL WORLD ENTREVISTA: ARTISTIC BUTCHERY

 A banda foi formada em agosto de 2022, em Belo Horizonte/MG, por Daniel Rezende (vocal), Anderson Akira (guitarra), Romero Silva (guitarra) e Vinicius Soares (bateria). Como vocês se conheceram e decidiram formar a banda?​

R: A banda foi formada inicialmente por mim (Daniel) e o Vinícius que é o baterista, já nos conhecíamos de longa data de outra banda que tocamos juntos de 2008 à 2014, para a guitarra convidamos o Romero, que também é um amigo que já conhecíamos de longa data nesse meio do heavy metal. Para a outra guitarra e baixo fizemos anúncio em grupos de músicos de Belo Horizonte e região, então foi assim que conhecemos o Anderson e o Júlio.

O nome "Artistic Butchery" é bastante impactante. Qual é o significado por trás desse nome e como ele reflete a proposta musical de vocês?

R: Quem escolheu esse nome fui eu mesmo, o nome veio de uma música de uma banda que sou fã e que é uma das maiores influências da banda, trata-se da banda Brutality, de death metal americana, no álbum When the Sky Turns Black de 1994, tem uma música com esse nome, achei que esse nome soa forte, brutal e combina com a estética e letras da banda, onde muitas retratam temas viscerais, com muita carnificina (risos)

 Sabemos que vocês começaram fazendo covers de bandas como Deicide, Malevolent Creation, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel e Broken Hope. Como essas influências moldaram o som autoral que vocês desenvolvem atualmente?

R: Todos na banda são apreciadores do Death Metal Oldschool, principalmente esses citados que são, na sua maior parte, originados na Flórida, no final da década de 80 e início de 90, como escutamos muito esse tipo de som e passamos a fazer covers dessas bandas, foi natural que quando começamos a compor a coisa fluiu naturalmente para nascer sons autorais com esse tipo de pegada, a coisa já está meio que no inconsciente e/ou consciente de cada um de nós.

Como foi o processo de transição de uma banda de covers para a criação de material próprio? Houve algum momento específico que marcou essa mudança?

R: Confesso que o meu intuito de montar essa banda nunca foi a de ser uma banda cover, meu objetivo em 2022 era voltar a tocar de forma presencial, orgânica, encontrar com outros caras para fazer um som, se divertir, mesmo que fosse só no estúdio, eu não tinha grandes ambições, faziam 8 anos que eu não tinha banda presencial, somente virtuais e naquele ano de 2022 eu estava passando por um momento muito difícil da minha vida, vinha de um relacionamento fracassado, que terminou no início da pandemia, acabei me afundando em uma depressão, em 2022 eu estava no fundo do poço, não enxergava mais sentido na minha vida, então decidi tentar mudar os rumos da minha vida, para me reerguer tomei algumas atitudes na época e uma delas e considero a principal, foi montar essa banda, montamos a banda e começamos a ensaiar e aquilo me deixou muito feliz, me ajudou muito a sair do quadro depressivo, o que realmente aconteceu, em poucos meses eu já não estava tendo mais os sintomas da depressão. A transição para a música autoral aconteceu por conta dos membros que entraram depois de mim e do Vinícius, os caras sentiram a necessidade de compor, criar algo com a cara da banda, mas o Vinícius e eu estávamos resistentes, até que um dia o Anderson chegou com um instrumental pronto e disse que aquela era nossa primeira música, daí pra frente não paramos mais de compor.

Vocês lançaram o single de estreia "From The Outside In" e o videoclipe "Damned For Eternity", ambos gravados no estúdio Casa Radar Rock, em Belo Horizonte. Como foi a experiência de gravar esses materiais e qual tem sido a recepção do público até agora?

R: Na verdade nós gravamos essas músicas e mais algumas outras primeiramente em formato “Live in Studio”, justamente no estúdio Casa Radar Rock, que fica em BH, isso em 2023. Essa gravação gerou dois materiais, um em formato áudio visual e o outro um CD ao vivo em estúdio que batizamos de Live At Casa Radar Rock, ambos podem ser encontrados nas principais plataformas de streaming e no youtube, tanto em vídeo, quanto em áudio.

Além disso, lançaram os videoclipes de From The Outside In e Gruesome Metaphor, também gravados no formato "live in studio". Como surgiu a ideia de apresentar as músicas nesse formato e quais desafios enfrentaram durante as gravações?

R: Complementando a resposta anterior, sim a Gruesome Metaphor também foi uma das que gravamos nesse ao vivo. Em 2024 entramos em outro estúdio, chamado Attack, também em BH, do Cristiano Fucker, da lendária banda de Brutal Death Metal, a Sanatório. Gravamos a From the Outside, que foi nosso primeiro single e também saiu um videoclipe da mesma. Em 2025 entramos em estúdio novamente para gravar a Damned For Eternity, essa gravada no X Studio, cujo o dono é o Alexandre Resende, baixista da banda The Host, que fica na cidade de Conselheiro Lafaiete, Minas Gerais. Esse foi nosso segundo single. A ideia de gravar os materiais no formato “live in studio”, foi para conseguir aproveitar naquele momento um pacote que esse estúdio Casa Radar Rock estava ofertando para gravar nesse formato, captando áudio e vídeo, foi uma forma barata e de qualidade que encontramos para promover a banda naquele momento.

Sabemos que há planos para lançar um EP com cinco músicas em 2025. Como está o processo de composição e gravação desse EP?

R: As músicas já estão prontas, serão 5 para compor esse EP. Ainda não entramos em estúdio para gravar, mas isso deve ocorrer no próximo mês.

As letras de vocês abordam temas como condenação eterna e metáforas grotescas. Quais são as principais inspirações para as composições líricas da banda?

R: Até o momento só eu que compus todas as letras, minhas inspirações são diversas, gosto muito de assuntos ligados a casos de crimes reais, principalmente temas que abordam histórias reais de serial killers, gosto de terror sci-fi, temas pós apocalípticos, faço letras com temas filosóficos e psicológicos, ainda mais que sou psicólogo, então acabo fazendo muitas letras voltadas para esses temas também.

Como vocês equilibram a brutalidade sonora com as mensagens que desejam transmitir através das letras?

R: Esse equilíbrio é quase que natural, pensando que a temática das letras combinam muito com a pegada do instrumental, as letras são densas, brutais, extremas, viscerais e o instrumental segue essa linha também.

Vocês já realizaram apresentações ao vivo ou estão focados nas gravações neste momento? Como têm sido as experiências nos palcos até agora?

R: Temos realizado apresentações sim desde o ano de 2023, eu sempre digo que o melhor lugar para se estar é em cima de um palco fazendo o que mais amo, não importa se tocamos para uma ou mil pessoas, a gente sobe lá e toca como se cada show fosse o mais importante das nossas vidas, é extremamente empolgante e viciante essa sensação e pra completar a receptividade do público nos nossos shows está sendo muito positiva.

Já tiveram a oportunidade de dividir o palco com outras bandas da cena Death Metal? Há alguma colaboração ou parceria que gostariam de destacar?

R: Dividimos palco com bandas consideradas clássicas do cenário mineiro como a Drowned por exemplo, em junho e agosto iríamos tocar em dois grandes fests de BH, onde dividiríamos palco com bandas como Tortured Squad, The Damnnation, Miasthenia, Flesh Grinder, Ancestral Malediction, Disgrace and Terror, etc… mas infelizmente não poderemos mais tocar nesses eventos.

Como vocês veem a atual cena Death Metal no Brasil? Quais são os pontos fortes e os desafios enfrentados pelas bandas do gênero no país?

R: Em termos de número de bandas temos bastante e isso é positivo, mostra que o estilo vem crescendo cada vez mais dentro do cenário, porém quantidade nem sempre vem acompanhada de qualidade, ainda vejo poucas bandas com identidade própria, acho que falta mais bandas que ousem mais, não no sentido de ter que inventar um novo estilo de death metal, mas observo que tem muitas bandas que soam muito genéricas, mas óbvio que não posso deixar de dizer que também temos ótimas bandas que representam bem o cenário brasileiro para o mundo.

Existem bandas brasileiras que vocês recomendam para quem deseja conhecer mais sobre o Death Metal nacional?

R: Tenho escutado algumas bandas brasileiras que tem me chamado atenção, algumas mais novas e outras nem tanto, mas neste momento recomendaria essas bandas: The Execration (Belo Horizonte), Flagrvum (Maranhão), Colt. 45 (Belo Horizonte), Rebaelliun (Rio Grande do Sul), Putrid impetus (São Paulo), Disgrace and Terror (Pará), Quid Est (Paraíba) e claro a Artistic Butchery (risos).

Além do EP planejado para 2025, quais são os próximos passos para a banda? Há planos para turnês, novos videoclipes ou outros projetos?

R: Queremos gravar um vídeoclipe mais profissional de uma das músicas do EP, já até escolhemos o local que servirá de cenário pra esse clipe. Temos planos de turnês sim, principalmente fora do Brasil, vamos ver como as coisas vão se encaminhando.

Vocês têm aspirações de levar a música da Artistic Butchery para além das fronteiras brasileiras? Quais são os objetivos internacionais da banda?

R: Temos bons contatos na Europa, para quem sabe fazer uma tour por lá futuramente, mas isso envolve um planejamento de médio a longo prazo. Por enquanto estamos divulgando nosso som fora do Brasil, através das nossas redes sociais, canal do YouTube e streamings.

Para finalizar, que mensagem vocês gostariam de deixar para os fãs de Death Metal e para aqueles que estão conhecendo a Artistic Butchery agora?

THE HISTORY OF THE BAND

Artistic Butchery started its activities in October 2022, in the midst of the pandemic, in the city of Belo Horizonte/MG, with the members: Daniel Rezende (vocals), Anderson Akira (guitar), Romero Silva (guitar), Júlio Jr. (bass) and Vinícius Soares (drums). Initially, the band started without great ambitions, with the intention of playing only covers of established Death Metal bands, such as: Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Suffocation, Malevolent Creation, Pestilence, etc... However, after the first show in March 2023, the first original songs came and from then on the band migrated from a cover band to an original band.

In the same year, bassist Júlio left the band. Two days later, Artistic Butchery entered the studio to record a "live in studio", which resulted in a demo with 3 songs called "Live at Casa Radar Rock", released on the band's streaming platforms, and videos of these recordings were also released on the band's official YouTube channel and the Casa Radar Rock studio.

In early 2024, the band officially announced the arrival of bassist Willye Rodrigues (vocals/guitar from Inventtor, a Doom Death Metal band from Belo Horizonte). With this consolidated lineup, they played a few shows and recorded their first single "From The Outside In", recorded at Attack studio in Belo Horizonte, by Cristiano Fucker, vocals and guitarist of the legendary brutal Death Metal band Sanatório. The single was released on 09/21/24, after the release of the single, Willye left the band and Júlio Jr. returned to take the bass position, drummer Vinícius Soares also left the band and the one who took the position was drummer Alfredo Malagoli (ex-Witch Hammer). METAL WORLD INTERVIEW: ARTISTIC BUTCHERY

The band was formed in August 2022, in Belo Horizonte/MG, by Daniel Rezende (vocals), Anderson Akira (guitar), Romero Silva (guitar) and Vinicius Soares (drums). How did you meet and decide to form the band?

A: The band was initially formed by me (Daniel) and Vinícius, who is the drummer. We had known each other for a long time from another band we played together from 2008 to 2014. We invited Romero, who is also a friend we had known for a long time in the heavy metal scene, to play guitar. For the other guitar and bass, we advertised in groups of musicians from Belo Horizonte and the surrounding area, so that's how we met Anderson and Júlio.

The name "Artistic Butchery" is quite striking. What is the meaning behind this name and how does it reflect your musical proposal?

A: I was the one who chose that name, the name came from a song by a band that I'm a fan of and that is one of the band's biggest influences, the American death metal band Brutality, on the 1994 album When the Sky Turns Black, there's a song with that name, I thought that this name sounds strong, brutal and matches the band's aesthetic and lyrics, where many portray visceral themes, with a lot of carnage (laughs)

We know that you started out doing covers of bands like Deicide, Malevolent Creation, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel and Broken Hope. How did these influences shape the original sound that you currently develop?

A: Everyone in the band is a fan of Oldschool Death Metal, especially the ones mentioned above, which mostly originated in Florida in the late 80s and early 90s. Since we listened to this type of music a lot and started doing covers of these bands, it was natural that when we started composing, things flowed naturally to create original sounds with this type of feel. It's already kind of in the unconscious and/or conscious of each of us.

How was the transition process from a covers band to creating your own material? Was there a specific moment that marked this change?

A: I confess that my intention in forming this band was never to be a cover band. My goal in 2022 was to go back to playing in person, organically, meeting other guys to make music, have fun, even if it was just in the studio. I didn't have big ambitions. It had been 8 years since I had a live band, only virtual ones. In that year of 2022, I was going through a very difficult time in my life. I was coming out of a failed relationship that ended at the beginning of the pandemic. I ended up sinking into depression. In 2022, I was at rock bottom. I no longer saw any meaning in my life. So I decided to try to change the course of my life. To get back on my feet, I took some actions at the time, and one of them, and I consider the most important, was to form this band. We formed the band and started rehearsing, and that made me very happy. It helped me a lot to get out of my depression, which actually happened. In a few months, I was no longer having the symptoms of depression. The transition to original music happened because of the members who joined after me and Vinícius, the guys felt the need to compose, to create something with the band's style, but Vinícius and I were resistant, until one day Anderson arrived with a ready-made instrumental and said that this was our first song, from then on we never stopped composing.

You released your debut single "From The Outside In" and the music video "Damned For Eternity", both recorded at Casa Radar Rock studio in Belo Horizonte. What was the experience of recording these materials like and what has the public's reception been like so far?

A: In fact, we recorded these songs and a few others first in a “Live in Studio” format, precisely at Casa Radar Rock studio in Belo Horizonte, in 2023. This recording generated two materials, one in audiovisual format and the other a live in studio CD that we called Live At Casa Radar Rock, both of which can be found on the main streaming platforms and on YouTube, both in video and audio format.

In addition, they released the music videos for From The Outside In and Gruesome Metaphor, also recorded in the "live in studio" format. How did the idea of ​​presenting the songs in this format come about and what challenges did you face during the recordings?

A: Complementing the previous answer, yes, Gruesome Metaphor was also one of the songs we recorded live. In 2024, we entered another studio, called Attack, also in BH, owned by Cristiano Fucker, from the legendary Brutal Death Metal band, Sanatório. We recorded From the Outside, which was our first single and a music video for it was also released. In 2025, we entered the studio again to record Damned For Eternity, this one recorded at X Studio, owned by Alexandre Resende, bassist for the band The Host, based in the city of Conselheiro Lafaiete, Minas Gerais. This was our second single. The idea of ​​recording the material in the “live in studio” format was to be able to take advantage of a package that the Casa Radar Rock studio was offering at that time to record in this format, capturing audio and video. It was a cheap and quality way that we found to promote the band at that time.

We know that there are plans to release an EP with five songs in 2025. How is the process of composing and recording this EP going?

A: The songs are already ready, there will be 5 to make up this EP. We haven't entered the studio to record yet, but that should happen next month.

Your lyrics address themes such as eternal damnation and grotesque metaphors. What are the main inspirations for the band's lyrical compositions?

A: So far, I'm the only one who has composed all the lyrics. My inspirations are diverse. I really like subjects related to real crime cases, especially themes that address real stories of serial killers. I like sci-fi horror, post-apocalyptic themes. I write lyrics with philosophical and psychological themes, especially since I'm a psychologist, so I end up writing a lot of lyrics focused on these themes as well.

How do you balance the brutality of the sound with the messages you want to convey through the lyrics?

A: This balance is almost natural, considering that the theme of the lyrics matches the feel of the instrumental very well. The lyrics are dense, brutal, extreme, visceral, and the instrumental follows this line as well.

Have you performed live or are you focused on recording at the moment? What have your experiences been like on stage so far?

A: We have been performing since 2023. I always say that the best place to be is on stage doing what I love the most. It doesn't matter if we play for one or a thousand people. We go up there and play as if each show were the most important of our lives. This feeling is extremely exciting and addictive. And to top it off, the audience's reception at our shows has been very positive.

Have you had the opportunity to share the stage with other bands from the Death Metal scene? Is there any collaboration or partnership that you would like to highlight?

A: We shared the stage with bands considered classics of the Minas Gerais scene, such as Drowned, for example. In June and August, we were going to play at two major festivals in Belo Horizonte, where we would share the stage with bands such as Tortured Squad, The Damnnation, Miasthenia, Flesh Grinder, Ancestral Malediction, Disgrace and Terror, etc., but unfortunately we will no longer be able to play at these events.

How do you see the current Death Metal scene in Brazil? What are the strengths and challenges faced by bands in this genre in the country?

A: In terms of the number of bands, we have a lot and this is positive, it shows that the style is growing more and more within the scene, but quantity does not always come with quality. I still see few bands with their own identity. I think there is a lack of more bands that are more daring, not in the sense of having to invent a new style of death metal, but I notice that there are many bands that sound very generic, but of course I can't help but say that we also have great bands that represent the Brazilian scene well to the world.

Are there any Brazilian bands that you recommend to anyone who wants to learn more about national Death Metal?

A: I've been listening to some Brazilian bands that have caught my attention, some newer and others not so much, but at the moment I would recommend these bands: The Execration (Belo Horizonte), Flagrvum (Maranhão), Colt. 45 (Belo Horizonte), Rebaelliun (Rio Grande do Sul), Putrid impetus (São Paulo), Disgrace and Terror (Pará), Quid Est (Paraíba) and of course Artistic Butchery (laughs).

Besides the EP planned for 2025, what are the next steps for the band? Are there any plans for tours, new music videos or other projects?

A: We want to record a more professional music video for one of the songs on the EP. We have already chosen the location that will serve as the setting for this video. We do have plans to tour, especially outside of Brazil. We'll see how things go.

Do you have any aspirations to take Artistic Butchery's music beyond Brazil's borders? What are the band's international goals?

A: We have good contacts in Europe, perhaps touring there in the future, but this involves medium to long-term planning. For now, we are promoting our music outside of Brazil, through our social networks, YouTube channel and streaming services.
