Metal World Entrevista: ROCKING RIDERS

Eles não pedem licença — chegam acelerando no volume máximo! Diretamente do asfalto para os palcos, a Rocking Riders carrega no som o espírito livre das estradas e a energia bruta do rock n’ roll. Nesta entrevista, vamos conhecer mais sobre a história da banda, suas influências e o que os move nessa jornada sonora cheia de potência.

Eddie Blaze trazendo mais uma entrevista com ícones do Rock e Metal Nacional. Bora conferir?

VERSÃO EM INGLÊS

 A banda foi formada em 2010. Como surgiu a ideia de criar o Rocking Riders e quais foram as principais influências musicais no início da jornada?

Luciano: O Rocking Riders foi criado após três anos da formação de uma banda que tocava os clássicos do Motörhead que se chamava Ace Of Spades. Juntamente com Vinícius Santos, comecei a escrever músicas autorais ao mesmo tempo que mantínhamos essa banda e, em 2009, já tínhamos algumas canções já com as guitarras e letras definidas. Começamos a ensaiar algumas dessas faixas com a formação do Ace Of Spades, mas com o tempo, percebi que o baixista e o baterista tinham a intenção de focar 100% nas músicas do Motörhead. Eu queria justamente o contrário, queria focar 100% nas músicas autorais, e o Vinícius pensava o mesmo. Assim, o baixista e o baterista foram desligados do grupo e a banda deixou de existir, dando vida imediatamente ao Rocking Riders no início de 2010. Recrutamos novos baixista e baterista que eram nossos amigos e assim começamos a tocar nossas próprias canções.

 O álbum *Rock In The Night* (2015) marcou o início da discografia da banda. Como foi o processo de composição e gravação desse trabalho? Há alguma faixa que vocês consideram mais representativa?

Luciano: Rock In The Night foi concebido porque queríamos gravar – como sendo nosso primeiro trabalho de estúdio – músicas que eram o reflexo daquilo que escutávamos na época. Dessa forma, as nossas influências foram Motörhead, Black Sabbath, Saxon, bandas de Thrash Metal americano e de Hard Rock. Como faixa-destaque do Rock In The Night de um modo geral, destaco Viper, música que faz parte do primeiro vídeo clip oficial do Rocking Riders.

 Os singles “Back In Time” e “Hellfire Club Blues” lançados em 2024 apresentam uma sonoridade madura e letras densas. O que inspirou essas composições e como elas refletem a evolução da banda?

Luciano: Back In Time é uma faixa potente que possui grandes riffs e com bastante melodia, cuja letra fala de uma viagem do tempo realizada pelo protagonista que passa por quatro momentos históricos importantes da nossa civilização: Pré-história, Dinastia Tang da China, Império Romano e Idade Média.

Hellfire Club Blues simboliza o Rocking Riders experimentando novas sonoridades: é um Blues Rock, tanto no instrumental quanto na temática da letra, que narra as peripécias do protagonista que é “convocado” por ninguém menos que Conde Drácula, Medusa, Lobisomem e a Morte a participar de uma festa regada à bebidas, jogatinas e strippers oferecidas pelo Diabo – tudo isso ao som de muito Blues, na nightclub que dá o nome à essa nossa faixa.

A banda já dividiu o palco com nomes como Nervosa, Ambush, Scalped e Pesta. Como essas experiências influenciaram o desenvolvimento musical e a presença de palco do Rocking Riders?

Luciano: É sempre bacana dividir palco com bandas conceituadas, tanto internacionalmente quanto nacionalmente. A oportunidade de bater um papo, nem que seja por pouco tempo, e de estar em um mesmo evento que essas bandas estão, nos incentiva e nos inspira em todos os sentidos.

O mascote Deathrider foi introduzido em 2020 e se tornou um símbolo visual da banda. Qual é o significado por trás desse personagem e como ele se integra à identidade do grupo?

Luciano: Nosso mascote surgiu para dar ênfase à tradução de Rocking Riders, que é “Cavaleiros do Rock”. Assim, um cavaleiro só – com todo seu visual – incorpora a sonoridade pesada da banda. Deathrider já tem uma música detalhando o que ele é, e a música pode ser encontrada no formato ao vivo e com a letra no YouTube. Em breve a versão oficial de “Deathrider” será lançada oficialmente e estará em todas as plataformas digitais.

 As letras da banda abordam temas como guerras, fatos históricos, problemas sociais e a essência do rock n´ roll. Como vocês escolhem os temas das músicas e qual é a mensagem que desejam transmitir ao público?

Luciano: Geralmente a temática e o conteúdo da letra estão estritamente ligados ao o instrumental da música. As letras têm o intuito de despertar o interesse do ouvinte de uma forma ou de outra através dos vários tópicos que abordamos nas nossas músicas.

 Com a chegada de um novo baixista em 2025, o que os fãs podem esperar em termos de mudanças ou novidades no som da banda?

Luciano: 2025 tem sido um ano de mudanças que serão benéficas para a banda. A chegada do novo baixista trará mais uma nova fonte de energia dentro do contexto daquilo que o Rocking Riders sempre tem em sua musicalidade: o peso. Dessa forma, a galera que curte nosso som pode esperar mais músicas pesadas e diretas.

 O cenário do rock independente em Minas Gerais tem se mostrado bastante ativo. Como vocês veem a cena atual e qual é o papel do Rocking Riders dentro desse contexto?

Luciano: Somos uma dentre as dezenas de bandas independentes da nossa região, e isso é bastante gratificante. BH e região, bem como nosso estado, são reconhecidos nacionalmente por ser um celeiro de bandas conceituadas e de bandas que surgem com o intuito de buscar um lugar de destaque. O Rocking Riders tem esse intuito e por isso trabalhamos duro para mostrar nossas músicas de todas as formas disponíveis e para um maior número de pessoas possível.

 Quais são os próximos passos para o Rocking Riders? Podemos esperar um novo álbum ou turnê em breve?

Luciano: Em breve nosso álbum será lançado com músicas que tem sido tocadas em nossas apresentações e mais algumas inéditas. Estamos focados nisso e, em breve, pensaremos sobre uma possível turnê local para divulgarmos nosso som.

 Para encerrar, que mensagem vocês gostariam de deixar para os fãs que acompanham a trajetória da banda desde o início e para aqueles que estão conhecendo o Rocking Riders agora?

The band was formed in 2010. How did the idea of ​​creating Rocking Riders come about and what were the main musical influences at the beginning of the journey?

Luciano: Rocking Riders was created after three years of forming a band that played Motörhead classics called Ace Of Spades. Together with Vinícius Santos, I started writing original songs while we were maintaining this band and, in 2009, we already had some songs with guitars and lyrics defined. We started rehearsing some of these tracks with the Ace Of Spades formation, but over time, we realized that the bassist and the drummer intended to focus 100% on Motörhead songs. I wanted exactly the opposite, I wanted to focus 100% on original songs, and Vinícius thought the same. So the bassist and drummer were fired from the group and the band ceased to exist, immediately giving life to Rocking Riders in early 2010. We recruited new bassists and drummers who were our friends and so we started playing our own songs.

The album *Rock In The Night* (2015) marked the beginning of the band's discography. What was the process of composing and recording this work like? Is there a track that you consider most representative?

Luciano: Rock In The Night was conceived because we wanted to record – as our first studio work – songs that were a reflection of what we were listening to at the time. Thus, our influences were Motörhead, Black Sabbath, Saxon, American Thrash Metal bands and Hard Rock. As a standout track from Rock In The Night in general, I would highlight Viper, a song that is part of the first official Rocking Riders video clip.

The singles “Back In Time” and “Hellfire Club Blues” released in 2024 feature a mature sound and dense lyrics. What inspired these compositions and how do they reflect the band’s evolution?

Luciano: Back In Time is a powerful track with great riffs and a lot of melody, whose lyrics talk about a journey through time undertaken by the protagonist who passes through four important historical moments of our civilization: Prehistory, Tang Dynasty of China, Roman Empire and Middle Ages.

Hellfire Club Blues symbolizes Rocking Riders experimenting with new sounds: it is a Blues Rock, both in the instrumental and in the theme of the lyrics, which narrates the adventures of the protagonist who is “summoned” by none other than Count Dracula, Medusa, Werewolf and Death to participate in a party filled with drinks, gambling and strippers offered by the Devil – all this to the sound of a lot of Blues, in the nightclub that gives its name to this track.

The band has shared the stage with names such as Nervosa, Ambush, Scalped and Pesta. How did these experiences influence the musical development and stage presence of Rocking Riders?

Luciano: It's always great to share the stage with renowned bands, both internationally and nationally. The opportunity to chat, even if only for a short time, and to be at the same event as these bands, encourages and inspires us in every way.

The mascot Deathrider was introduced in 2020 and has become a visual symbol of the band. What is the meaning behind this character and how does it integrate with the group's identity?

Luciano: Our mascot was created to emphasize the translation of Rocking Riders, which is “Knights of Rock”. Thus, a single knight – with all his appearance – embodies the heavy sound of the band. Deathrider already has a song detailing what he is, and the song can be found in live format and with lyrics on YouTube. Soon the official version of “Deathrider” will be officially released and will be on all digital platforms.

The band's lyrics cover topics such as wars, historical events, social issues and the essence of rock n' roll. How do you choose the themes of your songs and what message do you want to convey to the public?

Luciano: Generally, the theme and content of the lyrics are strictly linked to the instrumental of the song. The lyrics are intended to spark the listener's interest in one way or another through the various topics we address in our songs.

With the arrival of a new bassist in 2025, what can fans expect in terms of changes or new developments in the band's sound?

Luciano: 2025 has been a year of changes that will be beneficial to the band. The arrival of the new bassist will bring another new source of energy within the context of what Rocking Riders always has in their musicality: heaviness. In this way, the people who enjoy our sound can expect more heavy and direct songs.

The independent rock scene in Minas Gerais has been very active. How do you see the current scene and what is the role of Rocking Riders in this context?

Luciano: We are one of the dozens of independent bands in our region, and that is very gratifying. BH and the region, as well as our state, are nationally recognized for being a breeding ground for renowned bands and bands that emerge with the intention of seeking a prominent place. Rocking Riders has this goal and that is why we work hard to showcase our music in every available way and to as many people as possible.

What are the next steps for Rocking Riders? Can we expect a new album or tour soon?

Luciano: Our album will be released soon with songs that have been played in our shows and some new ones. We are focused on that and, soon, we will think about a possible local tour to promote our sound.

To conclude, what message would you like to leave for the fans who have followed the band's trajectory since the beginning and for those who are just getting to know Rocking Riders?
